Over the last twelve years, I have worked as a Session guitarist, playing on albums for library companies like Chappell Recorded Music Library, Bruton, Zomba, Unity and the BBC. Most of the sessions were “Sports Rock” orientated and would end up as backing music for extreme sport documentaries, programmes and promo for TV and Film.
My session career started in the mid-late nineties at Battery Studios in Willesdon, North West London, working over tracks by top session rhythm sections including UK players Laurence Cottle on bass and Ian Thomas on drums in some cases. Over the years since I started recording professionally, more and more studios have shut down as the technology has become more accessible. Many producers nowadays work from home and a lot of my more recent work has been done with parts sent out and assembled to mix via the internet.
The first track is a compilation of some of the session work I have done which is mainly Hard-Rock/Metal based, and the second track features work which is more Blues/Rock based. The majority of the sessions were done using my 1984 Tokai Goldstar Strat (see Gear Page), Amplitube V2 on a mac, usually emulating a Marshall JCM800 sound, and a virtual Tubescreamer with the drive set to zero (just the presence of the pedal is enough!!), through a 4×12 Marshall Cab. The producer for these tracks was my good friend Mr Ian Anderson who worked for a long time at Battery Studios as head Mastering Engineer and who I have enjoyed doing much work for. Rock!

Reality Dysfunction (2002)
I formed Linear Sphere in 2002 along with singer Jos Geron and guitarist Charlie Griffiths who I had grown up playing guitar with from the age of 14. In 2005, we released our debut album Reality Dysfunction which received critical acclaim from the international rock press. The album featured the amazing playing of Nick Lowczowski on drums who would become a permanent member, with Dave Marks as a session musician on bass guitar, as well as guest keyboards by Adam Robinson on the track Separation. After recording the album, we invited Steve Woodcock to join on bass, with Jamie Brooks on keyboards. After a period of rehearsal, we played some London gigs, including a support for legendary Tech/Death band Cynic in June 2007.
This track features some of my lead work, riffs and grooves taken from Reality Dysfunction and should give you an idea of the sound of the band. From 1.35-2.17, there is a trade between me and my good friend, fellow guitarist Charlie Griffiths and from 2.25-3.29 another trade with me leading and Charlie coming in after the drum fill with an incredible lead break, one of my favorites of the album.
