Modern Rock Guitar app now released for iPad & Mac Desktop!

A big thanks to everyone for all the support following the release of my new app “Modern Rock Guitar,” designed for iPad in conjunction with Leafcutter Studios. I am pleased to announce that after much demand, the app has now also been released for mac desktop!

Martin Goulding new columnist for Guitar Interactive Magazine

I’m very pleased to announce that I have been invited to join Guitar Interactive magazine as monthly columnist. It gives me great honour to be on the team producing one of the worlds premier online guitar magazines, working alongside such great players as Tom Quayle and Rick Graham. Yngwie Malmsteen Special Feature by Martin Goulding

Back in July 2005, I was given the honour of interviewing one of my own main early influences, Yngwie Malmsteen. This was my first professional job for Guitar Techniques magazine and along with my good friend Charlie Griffiths who was writing for Total Guitar magazine, we met up with Yngwie at a hotel in Kensington, London, and spent a couple of hours talking guitar, and filming some incredible ‘off-the-cuff’ improv over some backing tracks i’d prepared.

I’m pleased to present the un-edited video improvs for the neo-classically inspired Solo 1, along with the Jimi Hendrix inspired Solo 2 which demonstrates Yngwie’s hot rodded approach. Thrashed solo study now available from Live4guitar.com

My third solo study “Thrashed” is now available from Live4guitar.com. This solo takes influence from the Thrash metal style, which gained popularity from the early-mid 1980s with band​s like Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax. Based around an uptempo 8th note feel with a choppy down-stroke riff, the solo combines some blues-based E minor pentatonic ideas, with some more modern sounding E Dorian 3-notes-per-string scalar runs.

The full package includes fast and slow high definition video demonstrations, along with a 10 minute video breakdown/lesson. Also included is a high quality audio backing track with a set of midi versions at slower speeds, and with all tabs presented in Guitar Pro format as well as PDF’s…
